"Redesign" - Just another word for Redecorating or a One-Day Home Makeover

What is Redesign? Simply put, redesign is the art of rearranging and reconfiguring a home's existing furniture, furnishings and accessories. You can do this by "rethinking" your space and addressing its appearance and functionality. Redesign is accomplished by using what you already have, or purchasing only a minimal number of items, resulting in a totally new look at a huge cost savings to you.

Here are some times for redesigning your home:

  • Consider the function for each of your living areas. For example, what activities take place in your Family Room? If you watch a lot of TV, is the TV located well in relationship to your seating areas? If not, consider moving one or the other.
  • Is there too much furniture in a room? "Less is more", and clearing some space will add to the visual appeal of the room. Additionally, a cluttered room creates a feeling of chaos as you spend time there and you may find yourself avoiding the room altogether.
  • Take a look at how a room is accessorized. Too many nik naks? Too few? Consider grouping collections together, but don't feel compelled to display all 100 of those Precious Moments figurines! If there's too much to look at , each item looses its beauty because the grouping overwhelms the eyes.
  • Consider hiring a professional Redesigner. Many are members of I.R.I.S. (Interior Redesign Industry Specialists). This organization maintains high standards for its Redesigner members.
