Regina O'Leary of Delray Beach will help cancer survivors recover from their treatment by redesigning their homes.
O'Leary, president and founder of House to Home Redesign, is working with IRIS (Interior Redesign Industry Specialists) and the NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) to offer ovarian cancer victims the opportunity to have their homes transformed free of charge.
"We are pleased to help bring this service to survivors across the country," said O'Leary. "Environment has such a great impact on psyche and it's an important, but often forgotten, aspect of the healing process. We are lending our expertise and services to women coping with ovarian cancer by creating a healing environment they can enjoy in their own homes."
The program, called Havens for Healing, includes a consultation with a certified specialist, furniture placement, re-hanging of art, accessorizing with existing possessions, and even aromatherapy. The goal is to create a "haven" that focuses on comfort, rest and wellness.
"The moment (my clients) walk into a (redesigned) room it's magic," O'Leary said. "It's a good way to give back while using my talents."
IRIS Executive director, Marcia Smart, said, "We are thrilled to be working with the NOCC to make a positive impact in this way for hundreds of women living with ovarian cancer."
